Azafran on an expansion drive, forays into baby care segment

New Delhi [India], April 26 (ANI): Sticking to their ethos of going green and making environment-friendly products, Azafran Innovacion, a sustainable and research oriented company has forayed into the baby care segment.

The company, already offering various skincare products for Indian women, has now come up with India's first plant based baby care products.

Creating a niche segment with these offering, Azafran plans to make its products available across India.

The brand aims to expand through combination of modern retail stores, multi brand outlets and general trade and is exploring tie-ups with major retail chains. At present, the company is targeting all the metros, cities and towns having population of 20 lakh and above.

"We stay far from Paraben, Sulphate and other harsh chemicals that can dry and irritate skin causing discomfort to infants. Instead we use only plant-based ingredients like coconut, soya and olive that are gentle on skin, leaving a mild pleasant fragrance," said the company's spokesperson.

The baby care range includes massage oil, nourishing cream, gentle body wash and shampoo and moisturizing soap.

India, with 1.28 billion people, is the second most populous country in the world, just after China.

More than 127 million of the population are children under four years, while recorded number of annual births is 27 million with fertility rate of 2.72 children per woman.

The country possesses 20 percent of the 0-4 years' child population of the world.

The number of live births in the country is estimated to be 27 million, which again constitutes 20 percent of the total number of live births in the world.

This makes India as an attractive market for the baby care industry.

Meanwhile, the major factors driving baby care markets in India include growing number of working women, increase in live births, increasing disposable income, growing online shopping, rising literacy and rising demand for buying quality baby products. (ANI)
