The Election Commission has rejected the demands of the 22 opposition parties seeking verification of VVPAT slips with EVM figures, prior to counting of votes on May 23 rather than at the end, sources informed.
After a meeting that lasted for around an hour and a half, the poll body came up with the decision to conduct the matching of VVPAT slips of five polling booths picked at random, only after the completion of last round of counting, sources said.
