WB News: BJP’s Jagannath Sarkar accuses police of initiating violence during Raiganj assembly by poll
On July 10, BJP MP Jagannath Sarkar accused the ruling TMC of orchestrating a chaotic environment to prevent voters from casting their votes freely. The by-elections for West Bengal's Ranaghat Dakshin, Raiganj, Bagda, and Maniktala constituencies were held on July 10.Commenting on the alleged violence at the Raiganj Assembly seat, Jagannath Sarkar claimed that BJP workers were assaulted and that the police administration failed to respond to their calls for help.“BJP workers were beaten up. The police administration did not even pick up the phone. Voting did not take place here, looting was taking place... The candidate who lost (in the Lok Sabha elections) has been made their (TMC) candidate. What is their intention? You can imagine what the result will be here. So whatever work was done here under the leadership of the police, the Election Commission is not aware of it”, said Jagannath Sarkar.
