Mamata Banerjee to become chancellor of Bengal universities | Matrabhumi

The West Bengal cabinet gave its nod to introduce a bill to make the chief minister chancellor of state-run varsities, state Education Minister Bratya Basu said on Thursday. He said that the state cabinet gave its nod to the proposal during the day.  A few days ago, there were reports of tug of war in Bengal regarding the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor in universities. Recently Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar was accused of appointing many Vice-Chancellors without the consent of the state government.
