Center to Introduce Bill for Amendments to Waqf Board Powers and Procedures in Parliament | ABP News

The central government is expected to introduce a bill in Parliament this week aimed at amending the powers and procedures of the Waqf Board. According to sources, the Modi administration intends to place restrictions on the board's authority to designate any property as 'waqf property.' On Friday evening, the Cabinet reportedly approved approximately 40 amendments to the Waqf Act. The proposed amendments include mandatory verification of claims made on properties by the Waqf Board. Similarly, a requirement for compulsory verification of disputed properties overseen by the board has been proposed. Sources suggest that the bill proposing these changes to the Waqf Act is likely to be presented in Parliament next week.
