Breaking News: Supreme Court Hears Case on Rising Pollution Levels in Delhi | ABP News
Amidst the rising pollution levels in Delhi, the Supreme Court has sharply criticized the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government and raised several questions. The court asked why the government had not taken strict actions earlier when the pollution levels had crossed 400. The Supreme Court directed the Delhi government that the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) level 4 should not be lifted without the court's approval. The court further questioned why GRAP-3 was not implemented earlier when the Air Quality Index (AQI) had crossed 401 on November 12. The court asked who was monitoring the implementation of GRAP and what measures the government was taking to reduce pollution. The Supreme Court specifically asked why the government waited three days before enforcing GRAP-3 after the AQI crossed 400. The Delhi government responded by saying that it had already implemented GRAP-4. However, the court stated that despite the implementation of GRAP-4, it would not allow the removal of the plan even if the AQI dropped below 400. The court emphasized that the Delhi government could not lift GRAP-4 without the court’s permission.
