Bangladesh Chinmoy Das Arrest Case: Watch Big Updates Of The Hour Only On ABP News | ISKON Temple

The arrest of ISKCON monk Chinmay Krishna Das in Bangladesh has sparked widespread protests, raising concerns about the safety of Hindus and other religious minorities in the country. The unrest has escalated, particularly in Chattogram, where violent demonstrations resulted in the death of a lawyer. Chinmay Krishna Das was detained by the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday evening and presented in court under heavy security on Tuesday. His bail plea was rejected, and he was sent to jail. Reports suggest he has been charged with sedition, leading to mass protests marked by tear gas and baton charges, injuring over 50 people. Some critically injured individuals are undergoing treatment in hospitals. Bangladesh’s High Court has described ISKCON as a “radical religious organization,” with the government investigating its activities. During a hearing on a petition seeking ISKCON's ban, the court ordered the government to clarify its stance and measures taken against ISKCON's rallies and incidents, including the recent violence in Chattogram. Meanwhile, three Hindu temples in Chattogram were attacked following the unrest. India has expressed concern over the developments, urging the Bangladeshi government to ensure the safety of Hindus and other minorities. International voices, including ISKCON and American actress Mary Millben, have condemned the arrest and rising attacks against minorities in Bangladesh, calling for global intervention to protect their rights. Additionally, the interim government, led by Muhammad Yunus, has ordered an investigation into the lawyer’s killing and appealed for calm, urging citizens to avoid engaging in violence. Meanwhile, protests against ISKCON and the government’s alleged targeting of Bengali Hindus have intensified, including demonstrations at Dhaka University. ISKCON has requested the United Nations to take decisive action to safeguard minorities in Bangladesh.
