Assam Floods: Heavy Rainfall Wrecks Havoc Instead Of Giving Relief, Flood Leads To Destruction
Eight people were killed in Assam on Wednesday, taking the death toll to 56. According to a PTI report, more than 16.25 lakh people are reeling under the deluge across 27 districts, an official bulletin stated. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) report said that two persons died in Tezpur revenue circle of Sonitpur district, while one each drowned at Mayong of Morigaon, Naharkatia of Dibrugarh, Pub Mangaladi of Darrang, Dergaon of Golaghat, Halem of Biswanath and Margherita of Tinsukia. Three more people are missing and feared to have been washed away by the flood in the districts of Sonitpur, Sivasagar and Golaghat. The bulletin stated that over 16.25 lakh people were affected by the floods in Hojai, Jorhat, Kamrup, Kamrup Metropolitan, East Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong, Karimganj, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Morigaon, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sivasagar, Sonitpur, Barpeta, Biswanath, Cachar, Charaideo, Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Golaghat, Hailakandi, and Tinsukia.
