The Indian Army has analyzed and decided to allow 50 percent of staff to resume work in various departments. Today, officers returned in departments such as the Operation Room, Military Intelligence, Operational Logistics, Strategic Movement, and others. According to the army, the DGMS department will continue giving medical services as it is valuable in leading the fight against COVID-19 in India.
According to the military, keeping in mind the security needs at the Northern and Eastern borders two special trains will run from Bengaluru to Jammu and Guwahati on17th and 18th April. These trains are meant to carry officers still in training at Bangalore, Secunderabad (Hyderabad), Belgaum and Gopalpur (Odisha), who are stuck at these places due to the lockdown. In the North, we have the Indo- Pak border at Jammu Kashmir and Kargil and the Indo- China border at Ladakh. While in the East, the Indo-China border is at Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland. The trains are running in collaboration with the Indian Railways. The first train which began its journey on17 April from Bengaluru will reach Jammu via Secudarabad and Ambala. The second train which started on 18 April from Bengaluru will reach Guwahati via Belgaum, Secunderabad, Gopalpur, Howrah (Kolkata) and New Jalpaiguri.
