Telangana Pro Tem Speaker Akbaruddin Owaisi Takes Oath, Set To Induct New MLAs Into House
The first session of Telangana Legislative Assembly commenced on Saturday with Akbaruddin Owaisi taking oath as Pro Tem Speaker.
Pro Tem Speaker and AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi took oath during the first session of the state Legislative Assembly on Saturday. He is set to administer oaths to other newly elected MLAs of Telangana Assembly. On Saturday, Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan administered the oath of office to the Pro Tem Speaker. Owaisi took oath in the name of Allah, as per a report on Telangana Today.

The Pro Tem Speaker serves a temporary tole until the Speaker is elected. Owaisi is set to administer oaths to newly elected members of the House.
This is the second time that an AIMIM MLA has been appointed as Pro Tem Speaker. However, the appointment of Owaisi was not received well by the BJP. On the appointment of Akbaruddin Owaisi, BJP leader T Raja Singh said, "It is very unfortunate. After Congress formed the government & Revanth Reddy became the CM, Congress' real face has come to the fore."
"Every time Revanth Reddy used to make a statement that BJP AIMIM & BRS are one but the people of Telangana have known who is with whom...We will not take oath in front of such a person...We will boycott," he said.
Newly elected leaders take oath as members of the Telangana Legislative Assembly before Pro-term Speaker Akbaruddin Owaisi. However, BJP MLAs boycotted oath-taking with Pro-term Speaker Akbaruddin Owaisi presiding over the proceedings.
On Saturday, CM Revanth Reddy, former Speaker, former Ministers and MLAs were present at the swearing-in ceremony. Before the ceremony, Telangana BJP chief G Kishan Reddy along with the newly elected MLAs visited Bhagya Laxmi temple in Charminar and offered prayers.
On Thursday, CM Revanth Reddy and 12 MLAs took oaths as Ministers in the cabinet in Telangana.
