Telangana CM KCR Announces Rs 228 Crore Financial Aid To Rain-Hit Farmers
CM KCR said the crop loss report would not be sent to the Central Government as a mark of protest for its failure to release crop loss assistance to Telangana in the past.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has announced a relief and rehabilitation support of Rs 10,000 per acre to farmers for crops damaged by recent hailstorms and unseasonal rains. The state government would issue a total amount of Rs 228.25 crore on Thursday night, and the district authorities would start disbursing the financial aid as soon as possible.
According to an ABP Desam report, around 2.28 lakh acres of farmland were submerged due to recent unprecedented rains, resulting in significant losses for tenant farmers.
The Chief Minister, who is on a one-day visit to hailstorm-affected regions, told the media in Khammam district that all crops would receive equal financial assistance. He stated that crops in 2.28 lakh acres in the state had suffered damage, with maize crops being hit the highest as 1.29 lakh acres of maize farms have been destroyed.

CM KCR said the crop loss report would not be sent to the Central Government as a mark of protest for its failure to release crop loss assistance to Telangana in the past. He alleged that the BJP government at the Centre had not implemented any policies to benefit farmers in the country.
"The Central Government has never responded positively in earlier instances when farmers faced crop losses. On behalf of the Telangana State government, we would provide Rs 228 crore in rehabilitation and relief assistance to farmers," said KCR.
KCR promised to take the necessary steps to ensure that tenant farmers receive the financial assistance provided by the government. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari, Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy, Rythu Bandhu Samithi chairman MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar, and MP Vaddiraju Ravichandra.
