Munugode Bypoll: BJP Candidate Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy Dares CM KCR To Contest Against Him

Addressing a rally after filing the nomination, Rajagopal Reddy challenged CM KCR or minister KT Rama Rao to contest the Munugode bye-election against him.

The BJP's nominee for the Munugode Assembly bypoll in Telangana, Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, filed his nomination on Monday and dared Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his son, KT Rama Rao, to contest against him. 

BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, BJP general secretary Tarun Chug, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy and party MLAs Eatala Rajender and Raghunandan Rao accompanied Rajagopal Reddy when he went to the office of returning officer in Chandur to submit his nomination papers.

Rajagopal Reddy reached the office of returning officer as his supporters held a huge rally. Addressing the rally after filing the nomination, Rajagopal Reddy challenged  CM KCR or minister KT Rama Rao to contest the Munugode bye-election against him.

Rajagopal Reddy alleged that the chief minister looted the wealth of the Telangana people and said that the BJP would send him to jail. Reddy said that the strength of the BJP had increased in Dubbaka, GHMC and Huzurabad.

He commented that people had lost faith in the Congress party in Telangana.

The Munugode Assembly seat became vacant after the resignation of Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy on August 8. Reddy joined the BJP during a public event in Munugode in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. 

Earlier, TRS supremo KCR announced Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy as the party candidate for the Munugode bypoll. 

Prabhakar Reddy worked as the in-charge of the Munugode constituency in 2003. Later, he was elected to the legislative assembly from the Maheshwaram constituency in 2009 and 2014. In 2018, he contested from the Munugode constituency and lost by a slender margin.

Congress has fielded Palvai Sravanthi as the party's candidate for the upcoming Munugode bypoll.

Munugode Assembly constituency has seven mandals, two municipalities, 176-gram panchayats and 288 polling booths.
