Telangana: Yadagirigutta Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple Gets 'Green Place of Worship' Award. KCR Says 'Big Honour'

Hyderabad: The Yadagirigutta Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple has bagged the Green Place of Worship (Adhyatmika  Harita Punya Kshetram) award for the years 2022-2025. The award is given by the Indian Green Building Council. Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao Thursday expressed happiness over the temple getting the award. In a statement issued from the Chief Minister's Office, KCR said: "It is a pleasure to get this prestigious award for Yadagirigutta Sri Laxmi Narasimha Swami Punya Kshetra, which the Telangana Government built."

The CM said it was in great esteem to the India’s cultural and spiritual heritage that Telangana temples are receiving national and international awards. "The award of 'Spiritual Green Shrine' to the Telangana temple, the renovation of Yadagirigutta, undertaken by the state government respecting the sentiments and religious traditions of the people, is a proof of the glory of renaissance of Indian spirituality."

He added: "It is a big honour for the Telangana State Government that the 'Indian Green Building Council' appreciated the modernization work undertaken by the Telangana Government without distracting the sanctity and godliness of the Yadadri Temple."  

CM KCR said the deity of Yadadri Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy shrine has been restored in an ambitious manner to make it more accessible to the devotees.  He said he was praying to the Lord to shower blessings on the people so the state of Telangana prospers.

The Indian Green Building Council said the award has been given for taking up construction of the 13th century Sri Yadagirigutta Laxmi Narasimha Swamy temple without disturbing the sanctity of the Swayambhu and "preserving the holiness of the temple without touching the Swayambhu".

The award was also given for preserving the rocks in the inner and outer courtyard of the temple. The council mentioned how 100 per cent central air condition system was established and temple ducting constructions and other beautification work was undertaken without any damage to the temple walls.

The council said the award was announced after looking into provisions such as providing continuous services for the transportation of devotees.

Factors Considered For The Green Award To The Temple 

• For the special structure to allow natural light to be transmitted into the main temple through a special Sun Pipe
• Arrangement of ventilators and windows so fresh air circulates in all directions when devotees throng in huge numbers
• Main temple as well as the ancillary structures built entirely with Krishna rock. This reduces the heat and cool the structure naturally
• Abundant green surroundings to prevent heat effects to a great extent
• Access to safe drinking water
• Construction of ponds suitable for the needs of devotees
• Adequate parking space for devotees' vehicles
