A 35-year-old man allegedly attempted to sexually assault his 12-year-old daughter and later killed her when she resisted his advances.

Hyderabad: A 35-year-old man allegedly attempted to sexually assault his 12-year-old daughter and later killed her when she resisted his advances. He was arrested by Miyapur police on Wednesday after the CCTV footage showed him taking his daughter into the nearby forest, where the minor's body was found in a decomposed state later, the New Indian Express reported.

Surprisingly, on June 7, the accused had filed a complaint with the police about her missing daughter in a bid to feign innocence.

As the police began investigating, the girl’s decomposed body was found on June 14 in the forest area. Subsequently, the police intensified the probe into the matter and formed four teams to carry out the investigation.

The police became suspicious about the father's involvment after the CCTV footage showed that him taking her into the forest at 10.02 AM on June 7, but returning alone at 10:14 AM.

Further probe into the matter revealed that the accused is addicted to liquor and pornography. The 35-year-old had migrated to Hyderabad's Miyapur with his family a fortnight before this incident took place.

"On June 7, he lured his daughter in the guise of collecting firewood from the nearby areas and then took her into the forest," the report quoted Miyapur police as saying.

According to the report, the accused had tried to take advantage of her 12-year-old daughter, to which she resisted strongly.

Afraid that the victim would tell his wife and others about the assault, he hit her until she fell unconscious. He then killed her using a boulder to hit her head and left the place. However, he returned later to check if she was dead.

Accused Father Filed Missing Complaint To Feign Innocence

In a bid to deceive the police and make himself look innocent, he filed a complaint before the police, trying to mislead them.

After discovering the girl's body, the police on June 14, altered the case that was initially registered under Section 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) to Section 174 (suspicious death) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), the report said.

Thereafter, her body was shifted to the government hospital, where her parents identified her on the basis of the clothes she was wearing.

Later, when the CCTV footage was recovered, the girl's father confessed to his crime.

Again, the case altered to Sections 302 (murder), 376 read with 511 (rape, attempt to commit offence), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) of the IPC, along with relevant sections of the POCSO Act, the report noted.
