BRS To Boycott PM Modi's Warangal Visit To Protest Centre's 'Anti-Telangana' Attitude, Says KTR
PM Narendra Modi is set to visit Telangana on Saturday to lay the foundation stone for several development projects in Warangal.
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president and Telangana IT minister KT Rama Rao said that his party cadre, including ministers, MLAs, and other elected representatives, will boycott Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Warangal on Saturday to protest against the Centre's alleged "anti-Telangana" attitude over the last nine years. KTR said PM Modi has had an anti-Telangana attitude since he assumed office in 2014.
KTR alleged that none of the promises made to Telangana in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act have been implemented by the Centre. PM Modi had laid the foundation stone for a Rs 20,000 crore locomotive coach factory at Dahod in Gujarat a year back, but announced a wagon manufacturing unit of Rs 521 crore at Warangal in Telangana, KTR said.
A railway coach factory was supposed to be set up in Telangana as per the AP Reorganisation Act, he added.
The minister said that the people of Telangana would not accept the establishment of a factory by the Modi government with an investment of Rs 521 crore, considering that a private company has already set up a coach factory in Telangana with an investment of Rs 1,000 crore.

He also highlighted the delay in sanctioning a tribal university near Warangal, despite the state government providing over 300 acres of land for its establishment which was supposed to be set up, according to the AP Reorganisation Act.
Notably, PM Narendra Modi is set to visit Telangana on Saturday to lay the foundation stone for several infrastructure development projects in Warangal. The projects, totalling approximately Rs 6,100 crore, aim to boost the region's infrastructure. Prior to attending the events, PM Modi will visit the Bhadrakali temple in the district and is expected to address a public meeting.
One of the key projects for which the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone is the railway wagon manufacturing unit in Kazipet. The unit, with a budget of over Rs 500 crore, will enhance wagon manufacturing capacity and contribute to local employment generation. Additionally, it is expected to promote the development of ancillary units in the surrounding areas.
