YouTube Music New Features: You Can Now Share Timestamps For Songs & Podcasts, Here's How You Can Do It
This functionality enables users to direct others to specific moments within a track or episode, making it easier to highlight notable parts.
Earlier this year, Google officially discontinued its Podcasts app, urging users to transition to YouTube Music as the new hub for podcast listening. While YouTube Music has already incorporated many features aimed at enhancing the podcast experience, there are still some tools that users have been eagerly anticipating. Among the latest additions is a highly useful feature that allows users to share timestamps for songs, mixes, and podcasts.
This functionality enables users to direct others to specific moments within a track or episode, making it easier to highlight notable parts. The feature mirrors YouTube’s timestamp-sharing tool, which has been widely praised for its convenience.

How To Share YouTube Music With Timestamp
The process of sharing a timestamp on YouTube Music is straightforward. When playing a song or podcast, users can tap the "Share" button. This will bring up the sharing interface, where they’ll notice a toggle in the top-right corner labelled “Start at x:xx.”
By switching this toggle on, the link generated will automatically include the exact timestamp at which the content should begin. The resulting URL incorporates a timestamp indicator, such as `t=XX`, ensuring recipients are taken directly to the designated part of the audio content. This is especially helpful for those looking to share a specific segment of a podcast, a favourite lyric in a song, or a noteworthy moment in a mix.
This timestamp-sharing feature is being rolled out as a server-side update. However, it appears to be limited to devices running newer operating systems, including Apple iOS, Android 14, and Android 15. Users operating on older versions of iOS or Android may not immediately see this feature on their devices and may need to wait for broader availability.
As Google continues to refine YouTube Music, the addition of timestamp sharing is expected to significantly enhance the user experience, providing a more precise and versatile way to share audio content with others.
