Twitter Takeover | Elon Musk To Face Twitter Staff For First Time Since Deal: Report

The meeting will be held virtually on Thursday morning, and Musk will take questions from Twitter employees, according to the Bloomberg sources.

New Delhi: Tesla chief Elon Musk is set to address the Twitter employees for the first time at a company-wide meeting this week since the billionaire agreed to acquire the company for $44 billion in April, reported Bloomberg. The meeting will be held virtually on Thursday morning, and Musk will take questions from Twitter employees, according to the sources of the news portal. The announcement of the deal and his subsequent concerns to hold the deal over verification of Twitter's estimate of fake users sparked chaos among the employees.

Many employees are miffed with Musk, who has been vocal about the company products and its policies. CEO Parag Agrawal has also made changes to the top of Twitter‘s product organisation, and announced a series of cost-cutting measures since the deal was announced.

Recently, Musk has been harping on whether Twitter‘s user base is as big as the company claims hinting that the company has a huge problem with spam bots. Some argue that Musk is trying to use the alleged bot issue to renegotiate his deal, but Twitter executives have told employees they plan to enforce the agreement.

In a bid to close the deal, Twitter will offer Musk and his team access to its full “firehose” of raw data from the social platform, which includes 500 million-plus tweets posted daily, as early as this week, according to the Washington Post report.

Experts argue that Musk can’t just place the deal on hold even though he hasn’t stopped from acting as though he can. In case Musk walks away, he could be on the hook for a $1 billion breakup fee. In fact, the company could also sue to force him to complete the acquisition on the agreed terms.
