Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the second day of his three-day visit to the United States engaged with leaders from various sectors including semiconductors, electronics, and biotechnology, exploring the vast opportunities India presents. The Prime Minister's discussions centred around the potential for collaboration in key industries as he met with top executives like Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, IBM CEO Arvind Krishna, AMD CEO Lisa Su, and Moderna Chairman Noubar Afeyan.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi expressed optimism following the tech-focused roundtable in New York, where innovation and technology were the main topics of discussion. "I am glad to see immense optimism towards India," he shared.

Biden, Modi Praise Semiconductor Efforts

President Joe Biden and PM Modi jointly praised ongoing efforts to establish strong and secure semiconductor supply chains in another high-level meeting, highlighting GlobalFoundries' new Kolkata Power Center as a significant step forward. This initiative aims to deepen the two nations' R&D partnerships in chip manufacturing.

A fact sheet from the White House also highlighted IBM’s recent agreements with the Indian government to integrate its Watsonx platform into India's Airawat supercomputer, fueling new AI research and enhancing collaboration in semiconductor technology and quantum computing.

The two leaders further applauded progress made since the signing of an MoU in November 2023 aimed at boosting innovation in both nations. Under this "Innovation Handshake" initiative, two roundtables have been held, fostering connections between startups, venture capitalists, and corporate investors from India and the US.
