Chips For Viksit Bharat: PM Modi To Lay Foundation Stone For 3 Semiconductor Projects Worth Rs 1.25 Lakh Crore. Here's The Livestream Link

Two semiconductor facilities will be set up in Gujarat and one will be established in Assam.

In a significant move aimed at bolstering India's position in the global semiconductor landscape and providing a substantial boost to the nation's economy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to partake in 'India's Techade: Chips for Viksit Bharat' on March 13, 2024, at 10:30 am via video conferencing. This event will mark the laying of the foundation stone for three semiconductor projects collectively valued at approximately Rs 1.25 lakh crore.

With a keen vision to transform India into a prominent hub for semiconductor design, manufacturing, and technological advancement, Prime Minister Modi seeks to create ample employment opportunities for the country's youth, as per the official press release. This vision is coming to fruition with the commencement of groundbreaking ceremonies for three crucial semiconductor ventures.

The first among these ventures is the Semiconductor fabrication facility to be established at the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) in Gujarat. This facility, representing an investment exceeding Rs 91,000 crore, is a significant milestone as it marks the inception of India's inaugural commercial semiconductor fab.

Meanwhile, Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) is slated to construct the Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility in Morigaon, Assam, with an investment of approximately Rs 27,000 crore. Additionally, another OSAT facility in Sanand, Gujarat, with a total investment of about Rs 7,500 crore, will be established by CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited.

These initiatives are poised to fortify the semiconductor ecosystem within the country, paving the way for its sustainable growth. Moreover, these ventures are expected to generate substantial employment opportunities for the youth, not only within the semiconductor industry but also in ancillary sectors such as electronics and telecommunications.
