Microsoft Launches Copilot Pro, AI-Powered Features Arrive In Office

AI-powered features will now be available in Microsoft Office apps. You can make use of those features by paying $20 per month/per user.

Creating documents, reading and summarising emails, and crafting presentations are set to get much easier now as Microsoft has launched Copilot Pro, a premium subscription model of its existing Copilot which will provide access to AI-powered features inside Office apps, access to the latest OpenAI models and the ability to build your own Copilot GPT. More interestingly, now there's no threshold minimum number of seats that organisations have to take in order to avail these services. The company in a blog post on Monday also announced the general availability of the Copilot app for iOS and Android phones.

Yusuf Mehdi, Executive Vice President and Consumer Chief Marketing Officer at Microsoft, in the blog post said, “Finally, we’re excited to bring Copilot for Microsoft 365 to more commercial customers by expanding the availability to businesses of all sizes, including small- and medium-sized businesses.”

You can have access to Copilot in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote on PC, Mac and iPad for Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscribers. You can subscribe to the pro version by paying $20 per month/per user.

What Does Copilot Pro Bring To The Table?

It brings a number of things to the table, let's have a look at some of them briefly.

  • It brings a single AI experience which will run across your devices, understanding your context on the web, on your PC, across your apps and soon on your phone to bring the right skills to you when you need them the most.
  • You will get priority access to the very latest models such as OpenAI’s GPT-4 Turbo. With the premium subscription, you’ll get access to GPT-4 Turbo during peak times for faster performance. Soon, you will also be able to toggle between models to optimise your experience the way you want.
  • You will get access to enhanced AI image creation with Image Creator from Designer (formerly Bing Image Creator). It will be faster than its predecessor and will bring you more detailed image quality.
  • You will be able to build your own Copilot GPT in the new Copilot GPT Builder, with just a simple set of prompts. It will be a customised Copilot tailored for a specific topic.
  • Access to Copilot in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote on PC, Mac and iPad for Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscribers.

The company also announced that Copilot GPTs will let users customise the behaviour of Microsoft Copilot on a topic of interest to them. The company announced, “A handful of Copilot GPTs will start to roll out beginning today with specific purposes such as fitness, travel, cooking and more. Soon, Copilot Pro users will also be able to create their own Copilot GPTs using Copilot GPT Builder.”
