Cyber Fraud: Protect Your Account From Cyber Criminals With These Steps

Cyber Fraud: Cyber security threats are adopting and attacking the masses in new ways and new forms. Such people are seeking confidential credentials by offering essential services.

Cyber Fraud: With increase in online transactions, cyber criminals are becoming more vicious and finding new ways to steal money from your bank account. These people will try to convince you by pretending that you need to update your KYC details or suggesting to register for KYC again. Fraudsters may also offer you a job, threaten to block your account or talk about an emergency to steal your confidential information.

New Methods of Cyber Fraud:

According to security agencies, such people are contacting customers pretending to be bankers, insurance agents, healthcare or telecom employees and government officials. These fraudsters convince customers to share information immediately, citing account blocking, emergency, lack of supply of critical medical care products and other threats. They use these credentials to deceive customers. Fraudsters will also persuade you to download unverified mobile apps to access confidential information and thus seek control over your phone.

To protect yourself from these frauds, you can follow these steps:

What not to do:

Remember that to receive money in your bank account, you do not need to authenticate the credited amount through any PIN or OTP. You should be vigilant when you receive a request to share an OTP/PIN. Also, remember that your bank or any other financial institution never asks for any confidential information.

Don't click unknown links:

If you click on an unrecognized Internet link promising an offer you've never seen before, it will direct you to phishing websites that could put you at risk of fraud.

Always use number from the official website:

Fraudsters often give customers the wrong customer care number. This way they deceive them into believing that they are talking to the authorized representative of their bank or insurance company. That is why always visit the official website of the bank or insurance company and double-check these contact numbers.

Don't make payment on unknown portals:

Fraudsters use portals associated with fake jobs to dupe customers who share their bank account, debit card, and credit card details during the registration process. Beware of such portals and avoid sharing your financial credentials on these platforms.
