Tamil Nadu: Mahila Court Sentences A Couple To Life Imprisonment For Murder
The police found that Chinnaponnu reportedly abetted Raman to attack Lakshmanan over the construction of a fence
Chennai: A couple in Tamil Nadu was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of their relative on Tuesday. A fast-track Mahila court awarded life imprisonment to the couple Raman and Chinnaponnu of South Ayyampalayam near Kadavur in Karur district.
The couple was residing in a house next to their relative Lakshmanan and everything was going fine until Lakshmanan wanted to erect a fence around the couple's home, reported Times of India.
On August 2, 2018, on learning about this, Raman and Chinnaponnu severely attacked Lakshmanan with a wooden log. Soon after the attack, Lakshmanan was reportedly rushed to a government hospital in Coimbatore. However, he died at the hospital on October 6, 2018.

The police filed a case and started the investigation. It was found that Chinnaponnu reportedly abetted Raman to attack Lakshmanan.
On Tuesday, the case came up for hearing before a Mahila court. The Additional Sessions Judge A Nazzemabanu found Raman and Chinnaponnu guilty of the charges and awarded life imprisonment to the couple and imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 to Raman and Rs 3,000 to Chinnaponnu.

Earlier, in another case on September 25, 2018, a court in Srivilliputhur sentenced a couple and an auto driver to life imprisonment for reportedly murdering their son during a quarrel over his alcohol addiction.
The couple after killing their son, took the corpse to vacant land with the help of the auto driver and burnt it by pouring petrol on it.
