Tamil Nadu: Madras HC Orders CBI Probe Into 17-Year-Old Thanjavur Student's Death Case

New Delhi: The 17-year-old girl, who consumed pesticides on January 9 and died on January 19, was studying at a Christian missionary school in the Thanjavur district. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu BJP president Annamalai has reportedly claimed that the police probe in the student's death case is flawed.
A video clip purporting that the girl was forced to convert to Christianity has been making rounds on the internet. The parents of the deceased alleged that she was forced to do all the domestic chores at the hospital and they have lodged a complaint. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has also launched an inquiry into the issue.

After the girl's father has demanded CBI's probe into the issue, the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court on Monday ordered to transfer of 17-year-old Thanjavur student's death case to CBI.

The video statement by the girl was recorded by Vishwa Hindu Parishad's Ariyalur district secretary P Muthuvel, in which the girl alleged owing to harassment by hostel warden, who was arrested for abetting the suicide. The girl in the video has reportedly accused the school of other issues as well.
