Tamil Nadu Guv RN Ravi Meets E-Gaming Federation Members Amid Pending Assent For Online Gambling Bill

Online Gambling Bill: However, Raj Bhavan is yet to give a clear statement about the meeting.

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi met the representatives of the E-Gaming Federation (EGF) at Raj Bhavan on Monday. During the meeting, the EGF members expressed their views on the legislation.

They also reportedly spoke about the Supreme Court and Madras High Court ruling identifying poker and rummy as a skill.

However, Raj Bhavan is yet to give a clear statement about the meeting.

Sameer Barde, chief executive officer of EGF told The Hindu: "We placed the legal jurisprudence in this regard, set by the Supreme Court and several High Courts, whereby games like poker and rummy have been clearly identified as games of skill.”

“In its detailed judgment, the High Court of Madras reaffirmed the preponderance test for distinguishing between games of skill and games of chance, especially in the context of rummy, reinforcing that both rummy and poker are games of skill," he said.

He also called the Bill unconstitutional.
