Tamil Nadu Declares Holidays For Schools Till January 31, Exams Postponed
Earlier on Sunday, Telangana decided to extend the holidays for schools till January 30, which were earlier announced till Sunday (Jan 16)
New Delhi: Tamil Nadu government on Sunday has declared that the schools in the state to be shut till January 31 due to a spike in Covid cases. Exams which were slated from January 19 for Classes 10th and 12th have been postponed.
Holidays have been already declared for classes 1-9, the government now has declared schools to be shut for classes 10-12. In a release, the state government said that fresh dates for exams would be announced later.
Earlier on Sunday, Telangana decided to extend the holidays for schools till January 30, which were earlier announced till Sunday (Jan 16).

Three days earlier, the state government said to the High Court that physical classes are not mandatory and it is optional.
Meanwhile the state has reached a grim 24,000 milestone of Covid cases as on Saturday, 23,989 people have tested positive with 11 fatalities while on Friday 23,459 cases were registered.
Chennai alone has recorded 9,000 cases in a single day. Chennai and Chengalpattu contributes to the steep increase in Covic cases in Tamil Nadu.
