Russia-Ukraine Conflict | 'DMK Guards Tamils No Matter Where They Are': Stalin After Last Batch Of Students Reach Home

Be it the local Tamils or the ones stranded in Ukraine, the DMK is a party that protects all of them, Stalin said, presiding over a wedding in Chennai.

New Delhi: Tamil Nadu chief minister and DMK chief MK Stalin on Sunday said that all the students from the state, stranded in conflict-ridden Ukraine, have been brought back successfully and asserted that his party safeguards the Tamils wherever they are.

Speaking about the government’s efforts in bringing back the Tamil students, Stalin said that all those stranded in the trouble-torn country have reached their home and he himself welcomed the last batch of nine students that arrived on March 12.

Be it the local Tamils or the ones stranded in Ukraine, the DMK is a party that protects all of them, Stalin said, presiding over a wedding in Chennai.

The DMK chief further said that the successful evacuation of the Tamil Nadu students shows that no matter where the Tamil people are, the DMK always protects them.

He also pointed out that a panel, led by party MP Tiruchi Siva, was set up to coordinate with the Central Government in the evacuation drive of the students.

The Tamil Nadu government had on Saturday said that out of the 1,921 students from the southern state, 1,890 have returned from Ukraine and the remaining 31 were in 'safe zones' in Ukraine and its neighbouring countries. They were not interested in returning home, the government had said.

Earlier, on Saturday, Stalin thanked the External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for bringing back the stranded Indian students, including those from Tamil Nadu safely. The Tamil Nadu chief minister had called Jaishankar after receiving the last batch of students from Ukraine at the Chennai airport.
