PM Modi To Begin 2-Day South Visit With Inauguration Of New Terminal At Trichy Airport Today
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new terminal building at Tiruchirappalli International Airport and will dedicate development projects worth Rs 19,850 to the state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Tuesday inaugurate the new terminal building at Tiruchirappalli International Airport and also dedicate development projects worth Rs 19,850 to the state. Preparations are in full swing to welcome the Prime Minister. BJP banners dotted the roads of Tamil Nadu and elaborate security arrangements have also been made ahead of his visit.

Tamil Nadu BJP state president K Annamalai told ANI, "Today projects worth about Rs 19,850 crores are being dedicated to the people of Tamil Nadu and India including the new airport terminal in Thirchy. Trichy is a very special place for a PM that's why the party has decided to welcome our PM by doing Swachh Bharat today and 3 days before this. Whenever PM Modi comes to Tamil Nadu, it will always create an impact, especially for motivating our party workers and the public."

PM Modi will be on a two-day trip to the Southern region of India where he will visit Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadeep on Tuesday and Wednesday (Jan 2-3), as reported by news agency ANI.
Terminal Building At Tiruchirappalli International Airport
The new terminal building has been developed at a cost of more than Rs 1,100 crore. This two-level terminal will have the capacity to serve more than 44 lakh passengers annually and about 3,500 during peak hours, said an official release from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). The statement read, "The new terminal hosts state-of-the-art amenities and features for passenger convenience."
The release added that the new terminal building contains 60 check-in counters, 5 Baggage Carousels, 60 Arrival Immigration Counters, and 44 departure emigration counters.
