VIDEO | Army Helicopter Crashes In Nilgiris, Senior Officers Were On Board, 3 Rescued
Four confirmed dead in the helicopter crash. Three persons have been rescued from the spot and rushed to the hospital for further treatment
Chennai: An Indian Army helicopter with senior defense officials crashed in Coonoor of Tamil Nadu. The preliminary visuals from the spot show a helicopter burning amidst the bushes in the Nilgiris forest region. The fire personnel and other officials have been rushed to service.
The preliminary investigation has started to find out whether the helicopter accident took place due to fog or technical glitch, said sources. The helicopter started from Sulur of Coimbatore district to Wellington Army Centre in Coonoor of Tamil Nadu. The district officials are yet to provide details of the accident. There is no official confirmation from the Indian Army yet.

According to unconfirmed reports, CDS Bipin Rawat and his wife were among the officers on board the chopper. There were nine persons on board in the chopper. Three people have been rescued from the spot and rushed to the hospital for further treatment.

Bipin Rawat was scheduled to be in Coonoor, for the next three days for a training session. According to the sources, 14 were on board. The District collector Amrit confirmed the crash and has rushed to the spot.
