BJP Functionary Hacked To Death By Miscreants Near Tamil Nadu’s Poonamallee

If such crimes continue, Tamil Nadu BJP president Annamalai said that protests would be held across the state.

A BJP worker was hacked to death by miscreants at Nazarathepettai in Poonamallee of Tamil Nadu on Thursday night. The miscreants also waylaid and hurled crude bombs at the victim's vehicle. 

According to a report on India Today, when BBGT Shankar, BJP panchayat president and State Schedule Caste (SC) wing functionary, was returning from a wedding assailants stopped his vehicle. They hurled crude bombs at the vehicle and hacked him to death at Nazarathpettai. 

Based on the information, the police reached the spot and started the investigation. They also registered a case and sent the body for autopsy. However, the reason for the murder is yet to be known.

TN BJP Chief Annamalai Condoles Death

Tamil Nadu BJP Chief Annamalai, who is currently campaigning for the party in Karnataka, condoled the death on social media.

Taking to social media, Annamalai said, "I was very shocked to hear the news that Valarpuram Panchayat Council President and state treasurer of BJP State Schedule Caste (SC) wing BBGT Shankar has been hacked to death by anti-social elements."

"It is clear from the daily crime incidents that law and order are not under control in the DMK regime.
The police, which is supposed to protect the life and property of the people, has been turned into a propaganda department of the ruling party," he said.

Annamalai said: "The Chief Minister who controls the police department is unable to maintain law and order but he is deceiving the public by pretending to be the number 1 chief minister. I warn that the culprits should be found immediately and strict action should be taken and if such crimes continue, BJP Tamil Nadu will be protests across the state."
