33-Year-Old Nurse Raped And Killed In UP's Rampur

The nurse’s sister expressed alarm over her sudden disappearance on July 30, after her shift. A missing person’s report was lodged at the Rudrapur City police station. The police initiated a search operation, placing her mobile phone under surveillance and reviewing over 500 CCTV camera feeds. On August 1, the victim’s body was discovered in the bushes of an abandoned area in the neighbouring village of Dibdiba, just across the border in Uttar Pradesh, TOI's report stated.

A 28-year-old resident of Tursa Patti village in Bareilly was identified as the prime suspect. Following an extensive manhunt across Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan, the accused was apprehended in Jodhpur West, Rajasthan. During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, admitting that he had abducted the woman on the evening of July 30, raped, and strangled her before fleeing with Rs 3,000 in cash and her mobile phone, as per the report.

"My sister was already divorced and was struggling to raise her 11-year-old daughter. Her daughter has gone into depression since her mother’s murder. The culprit must receive the death penalty so that no one dares to commit such a heinous act again," the victim’s sister stated, as quoted by TOI.

At the protest, Congress state general secretary Meena Sharma demanded that the case be tried in a fast-track court, asserting, "The culprit should be hanged. There is no place for such barbaric individuals in a civilised society."
