UP Govt Bans Liquor Sale On 84-Km Radius Of Ram Mandir

UP Excise and Prohibition Minister Agarwal said that the decision to prohibit the sale of liquor on the 84 Kosi Parikrama Marg was taken as per the instructions given by CM Adityanath.

The Uttar Pradesh government has imposed a ban on the sale of liquor in the 84-kilometre radius of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. This comes ahead of the consecration ceremony of Ram Temple scheduled to take place on January 22. Speaking to news agency ANI, UP Excise and Prohibition Minister Nitin Agarwal said that the decision to prohibit the sale of liquor on the 84 Kosi Parikrama Marg was taken as per the instructions given by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

"It was our decision as per the instructions by CM that we prohibit liqour sale on the 84 Kosi Parikrama Marg. We have shifted the shops alloted there and we have completely prohibitted liqour sale on that Marg...It's a 150-175 km long road so we have shifted all the shops to other places," Agarwal said, as quoted by ANI.

Earlier, Temple Trust said that most of the Ram temple compound will be a green area with hundreds of trees and the complex itself will be "atmanirbhar".

The trust also higlighted features like its own sewage and water treatment plants, a fire brigade post and a dedicated power line. About 70 per cent of the 70-acre complex will be a green area, Ram temple trust general secretary Champat Rai told reporters here on Tuesday.

"The green area includes portions which are very dense, and in some segments of it, even sunlight hardly filters through," he said, as quoted by PTI. About 600 existing trees are preserved in the green belt.
