Noida International Airport Faces Construction Delays, Likely To Be Operational By April 2025

The inauguration of Noida International airport has been delayed due to construction delays. The airport is now expected to be operational by April 2025.

Originally scheduled to launch by the end of 2024, the inauguration of the Noida International airport has been delayed and is now expected to become operational by April 2025, it said in a statement issued on Monday.

The Greenfield airport that is currently under construction in the Jewar area of Gautam Buddh Nagar district, Uttar Pradesh, is expected to launch its services by next year in April.

"In view of the current construction status, we expect to begin commercial operations by end of April 2025. We are working together with our EPC contractor Tata Projects Limited and with other stakeholders to keep the pace of construction activities and preparations for operational readiness high," the airport stated in a statement.

It further read: "We are committed to our goal of delivering a sustainable and world-class airport for Delhi NCR and Uttar Pradesh."

Underlining that the construction work is at advanced stages, the statement said. "we continue to pass important milestones on the road to operational readiness."

The airport further called the project as "large and complex" and stressed that the construction work in the next few weeks is crucial.

"Work on the runway, the passenger terminal and the control tower, is well advanced. Recently, the concessions for ground handling, the operation of commercial areas and important maintenance contracts were awarded," it stated.

The statement also mentioned that the airport has made agreements with several airlines for flight connections from Noida International Airport.

Noida Airport Conducts First Calibration Flight

On April 18 this year, the airport conducted its first calibration flight in order to test the navigation systems of the Noida airport. For this, a Beechcraft King Air B300 aircraft was used.

The Noida International airport is a mega public-private partnership project of the UP government. Upon completion, it is said to be India's largest airport, developed in four phases spanning over 5,000 hectares.
