UP Government Lifts Night Curfew After Decline In Covid-19 Cases

The government of Uttar Pradesh has lifted night curfew in the state following the decline in Covid-19 cases.

New Delhi: The government of Uttar Pradesh has lifted the night curfew in the state following the decline in Covid-19 cases, news agency ANI reported. 

Awanish Kumar Awasthi, who is Additional Chief Secretary to Government of Uttar Pradesh, stated in a notice dated February 19 that the night curfew has been lifted due to the decline in Covid-19 cases. 

According to the notice, the night curfew will be lifted in Uttar Pradesh from Saturday, February 19.

Last year, the Uttar Pradesh government had imposed a night curfew in the state from December 25, from 11 pm to 5 am.

The Uttar Pradesh government, following the outbreak of the third wave of Covid-19, imposed a night curfew from 10 pm to 6 am, from January 9. The night curfew was extended by two hours, and was imposed across all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh.

However, on February 13, the guideline was revised, and once again, the curfew timings were from 11 pm to 5 am. 

As many as 842 fresh Covid-19 cases were reported in Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours. The active caseload in the state currently stands at 20,63,9041.

On Sunday, February 20, voting for the third phase of theUttar Pradesh assembly elections is set to take place. The campaigning for the third phase came to an end of Friday, February 18.
