The Councillor Cup 2025 Concludes With Thrilling Final At Behala Uttar Suri Playground
The Councillor Cup 2025 ends with thrilling cricket action in Uttar Suri, while Kolkata Knight Riders secure their first IPL win, defeating Rajasthan Royals after an opening loss to RCB.

The much-anticipated Councillor Cup 2025 wrapped up today in spectacular fashion, delivering two days of non-stop cricketing excitement at the Uttar Suri Playground. Proudly presented by Ward No. 128, the day-night tennis cricket tournament drew cricket enthusiasts and local supporters in large numbers.
The tournament, held on March 26 and 27, witnessed participation from 8 talented teams representing various parts of Bengal. Across the two days, seven thrilling matches, including knockout rounds and the grand finale, kept fans on the edge of their seats.
True to its promise, the Councillor Cup 2025 brought together top Indian tennis cricketing talent and vibrant community participation. The electrifying atmosphere, coupled with the fierce competition, made it an unforgettable experience for players and spectators alike.
The final match today witnessed an intense battle between the two best teams of the tournament, capping off two days of energy, entertainment, and sportsmanship. Cheers and applause echoed throughout the ground as cricket fans supported their favorite teams with unmatched enthusiasm.
Special thanks were extended to the driving force behind the event, Councillor Sri Partha Sarkar, whose initiative and dedication made the tournament a grand success. "Special thanks to our Councillor Sri Partha Sarkar for hosting an unforgettable tournament! Your dedication to promoting sports and community spirit is truly commendable," the organizers noted.
Meanwhile, the Kolkata Knight Riders registered their first win of the season with a convincing 8-wicket victory over the Rajasthan Royals. The defending champions had earlier suffered a defeat in their opening match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. In that game, RCB's top-order trio — Rajat Patidar, Virat Kohli, and Phil Salt — stitched together a solid partnership, with both Kohli and Salt scoring impressive half-centuries to guide their team to victory.
Kolkata Knight Riders are set to face Mumbai Indians in their next match on March 31 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Both teams have a rich history in the IPL, having won the title multiple times. Mumbai Indians lost their opening match against Chennai Super Kings and were without their skipper, Hardik Pandya, who was serving a ban carried over from last season due to a slow over-rate offence. However, Pandya will return for this crucial clash against KKR.
The upcoming contest promises to be exciting. Kolkata will aim to carry forward their winning momentum and keep pace with the Sunrisers, while Mumbai will be eager to open their account with a victory at home in front of their passionate supporters.
This match will also be significant for Hardik Pandya, as it will set the tone for his season. Last year, he faced heavy criticism and was booed by fans after replacing Rohit Sharma as captain — the man who led Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles. Pandya will look to silence the critics and lead his side to a strong comeback.
