Hyderabad: 14-Year-Old Run Over By Speeding IPS Retiree, Dies
According to the Neredmet police, the vehicle was traveling from Neredmet X road towards Thirumalgiri when the accident took place.
In Hyderabad, a 14-year-old school student lost his life after being struck by a car allegedly driven by an retired IPS officer. The accident occurred on Tuesday on the RK Puram flyover when the retired officer, reportedly driving in a "rash and negligent manner," hit the Class 9 student, who was standing on the flyover.
The school student was identified as M Karthik while 84-year-old IPS officer was identified as Domalapally Vijay Kumar.
According to the Neredmet police, the vehicle was traveling from Neredmet X road towards Thirumalgiri when the accident took place. Karthik died on the spot, according to a report on PTI. His body was immediately taken to a state-run hospital mortuary.
Although Kumar tested negative for alcohol, he has been charged with rash and negligent driving. The incident has sparked outrage, with Karthik’s family demanding strict action against the former police official.
In a separate, a man named Gopi (38), who worked as a private security guard, was killed on Sunday in the Jeedimetla area on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The accident occurred when a speeding SUV, allegedly driven by a student under the influence of alcohol, hit him. Following the incident, disturbing CCTV footage of the incident, which has since circulated on social media, showed the vehicle mowing down Gopi as he walked along the roadside.
However, the investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding both cases.
