Sandeep Singh Case: Final Charge Sheet Says Haryana Minister Refused To Undergo Lie Detection Test

The police report stated that on March 10, 2023, a request was moved before the court to conduct a lie detection test, but, Sandeep Singh refused to undergo it on medical grounds.

New Delhi: The final charge sheet filed against Haryana Minister Sandeep Singh over a sexual harassment case mentioned the complainant was at the crime scene for over an hour and not 15 minutes as the accused claimed, news agency PTI reported. The police report also mentioned that Singh refused to undergo a lie detection test on medical grounds. The case pertains to allegations of sexual assault levelled by a junior athletic coach from Haryana against the BJP leader. The initial charge sheet was filed last month, nearly eight months after the case was registered, PTI reported.

“While identification of scene of the crime, the victim was able to identify the main office (at his official residence here), the attached side room, as well as the bedroom and attached bathroom and all the connecting passageways, which clearly shows that victim had visited the said rooms, while accused has cited that she only visited his main office cabin. The victim's presence at the scene of the crime on March 2, 2022, and July 1, 2022, has been affirmed by her ride details as provided by Uber, which shows that the victim was present at the scene of the crime for over an hour, rather than 15 minutes as claimed by the accused,” the police report read.

"Further, it is contrary to the accused's claims that the victim had only visited his main office and not the attached cabin or the bedroom,” the charge sheet, filed by the Chandigarh Police, further read.

Several witnesses have also supported the victim's allegations of sexual harassment, according to the charge sheet.

The police report also stated that earlier on March 10, 2023, a request was moved before the court to conduct a lie detection test, but, Singh refused to undergo it on medical grounds.

As per the charge sheet, the forensic reports on the examination of the victim's mobile phone stated that Sandeep Singh and the victim were in regular contact with each other and their relationship was beyond professional. However, the hockey player-turned-politician has refuted any such claim, PTI reported.

The charge sheet mentioned that some of the allegations of the victim could not be substantiated during the probe.

Police said that it has been found the victim was initially on friendly terms with Singh, but, after the incident, she started complaining about the undue sexual advances made by the accused.

“There was a six-months delay in lodging of the complaint and immediate provocation for the same appears to be her transfer from Panchkula to Jhajjar, and minister's refusal for reverting the same. The victim didn't report immediately the sexual harassment incident of July 1, 2022, and she was in contact with the accused. But many incidents, such as her facing difficulties in accessing the gym facilities at Tau Devi Lal stadium, Panchkula, refusal of foreign training and finally her transfer to Jhajjar made her lodge a formal complaint with the police,” the charge sheet further stated, as reported by PTI.
