New Delhi: West Bengal minister Jyotipriya Mallick, who was arrested by Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the alleged multi-crore ration distribution scam, was taken to a hospital in Kolkata due to poor health on Sunday.
Mallick claimed that his medical condition was such that he may not survive for long.
“My health is extremely bad. I will die soon,” the state forest minister said while being brought out of the ED’s Salt Lake office for a medical check-up at the defence-run Command Hospital in South Kolkata, reported news agency IANS.

Mallick came out of the ED office with support from two central agency officials.
Although he refused to comment on the ration distribution case-related matters, he expressed apprehension of his possible demise soon, according to IANS.
This is the second time in 48 hours that the arrested minister expressed such serious concerns about his health condition.
Earlier on October 10, he had claimed that his health condition was deteriorating and his limbs might become paralyzed while he was brought to the Command Hospital by the ED investigators.
“I am extremely unwell. It seems that my left hand and left leg are becoming paralytic,” Mallick had said on Friday.
A special court in Kolkata remanded West Bengal Minister Jyotipriya Mallick to Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody till November 13 for his alleged involvement in the multi-crore ration distribution case in the state.
On October 26, while ED sleuths were conducting marathon raids and search operations at Mallick’s residence, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee threatened to file FIRs against the ED officials if there was a negative reaction on the health of Mallick, reported IANS.
“He is suffering from high blood-sugar and is not in the proper health condition. So if anything happens to him because of the unnecessary harassment, we will have to file FIRs against the ED officials,” the chief minister said on that day.
