Rajasthan: Karni Sena Chief Bhanwar Singh Shot At In Udaipur, Accused Arrested

The incident took place when a meeting of Rajput Karni Sena was underway in Udaipur. Police said prima facie it appears that the shooting was a fallout of an old enmity.

New Delhi: Rajasthan chief of Rajput Karni Sena, Bhanwar Singh was shot at during a meeting of the organisation in Udaipur on Sunday. According to reports, police identified the accused as a former member of the outfit and he has been arrested.

As per reports, Bhanwar Singn sustained bullet injuries in his spinal cord and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

The incident took place when a meeting of Rajput Karni Sena was underway in Udaipur.

Several videos have emerged showing the locals thrashing the accused. Police reached the spot to control the situation. The man was later arrested.

Police said prima facie it appears that the shooting was a fallout of an old enmity.

Speaking to NDTV, the national president of Rajput Karni Sena, Mahipal Makrana, said that the attack was politically motivated to damage the Karni Sena.

It is to be noted that in the run up to the Rajasthan assembly elections scheduled later this year, the Karni Sena has been organising a series of events and meetings to target the Rajput vote bank.
