Pune Porsche Case: Minor Accused Remanded To Rehabilitation Home Until June 5

The Juvenile Justice Board remanded the minor accused in the Pune Porsche case to a rehabilitation home until June 5.

The Juvenile Justice Board remanded the minor accused in the Pune Porsche Case to a Rehabilitation/Observation home till June 5, news agency ANI reported on Wednesday citing Pune Police officials familiar with the matter.

Earlier in the day, a sessions court in Pune renamed the father of the 17-year-old involved in the car accident and two employees of a pub to police custody until May 24. The father, a real estate developer, and Black Cluc pub employees Nitesh Shevani and Jayesh Gavkar, were presented before Additional Sessions Judge S.P. Ponkshe.

The teenager had allegedly consumed alcohol at the pub before the accident. Police registered a case against the father under sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act. The bar owner and employees faced charges for serving alcohol to a minor. Section 75 addresses "willful neglect of a child or exposing a child to mental and physical illness," while section 77 pertains to supplying a child with intoxicating liquor or drugs.

The FIR stated that the father allowed his son to drive the car, despite knowing the boy did not have a driving license, thereby endangering his life. He also permitted the boy to attend parties where he consumed alcohol.

The incident occurred around 3:15 AM on Sunday at the Kalyani Nagar junction, where the speeding Porsche, allegedly driven by the boy, hit a motorcycle, killing two riders—a man and a woman, both aged 24.

While the boy was released on bail, his father was arrested from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The prosecution requested seven days of police custody for the father and the pub employees to investigate why the father allowed his son to drive the car without a number plate and why he absconded after the incident. The father had only a simple mobile phone at the time of his arrest, prompting further investigation into his other phones.
