Nuh Violence: Illegal Hotel From Where Stones Were Pelted At Procession Demolished — WATCH

Notably, communal violence erupted in Nuh after a mob allegedly attacked the procession led by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).

New Delhi: An illegally constructed hotel-cum-restaurant in Haryana’s Nuh, which was used by hooligans to pelt stones at the religious procession, was demolished on Sunday as a part of the demolition drive that the state authorities undertook following the recent violence.

Notably, communal violence erupted in Nuh after a mob allegedly attacked the procession led by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).

District town planner Vinesh Kumar said that the commercial building of the "Sahara Family Restaurant" was constructed illegally. He said that it was the same building from where hooligans pelted stones on a religious procession, reported news agency ANI.

The Haryana government initiated a demolition drive against unauthorised construction, especially in the regions where stones were pelted during the procession.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Kumar said, "The building was totally unauthorised and it was served notices by the Government and department. Today, this action is being taken. This is a hotel-cum-restaurant and is completely unauthorised. Hooligans had pelted stones on the yatra from here. So, this action is being taken."

Earlier on Saturday morning, the Nuh district administration razed down over 45 "illegal" shops in the Nalhar road area.

According to Nuh SDM Ashwani Kumar, the action was taken on the orders of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. Kumar said that some of these encroachments were done by people who were involved in the recent clashes that rocked the state.

Meanwhile, the internet suspension in Nuh has been extended till Tuesday.

Communal clashes had broken out between two groups on July 31 in Haryana's Nuh district during a VHP rally. Six people including a cleric were killed in the violence that ensued after the clashes and several cars and food joints were set on fire.
