Earlier on Friday, a journalist working with Hindi daily Dainik Jagran, indentified as Vimal Kumar Yadav, was shot dead in the Raniganj market area.
Calling it "a heart-breaking incident", Amarendra Kumar, President of Araria District Journalist Association, said, "This raises questions on law and order situation in the state."
A day later on Saturday, four people were arrested in connection with Yadav's murder.
Police told news agency PTI that the accused knocked at his house around 5.30 am, and fired at him as soon as he opened the gates.
Those arrested were identified as Vipin Yadav, Bhavesh Yadav, Ashish Yadav and Umesh Yadav -- all residents of the district, police said. The 35-year-old journalist was a witness to the murder of his brother in 2019, they said.
Police said they have filed a case against eight people on the basis of the statement given by the victim's father Harendra Prasad Singh, following which four accused have been arrested.
Two accused, Rupesh Yadav and Kranti Yadav, are already in judicial custody in connection with some other case, PTI reported. Police said they were the accused on remand for their custodial interrogation in connection with the murder case. Meanwhile, a search is on for the other two accused still at large.
