Miscreants Open Fire At Restaurant In Bihar's Muzaffarpur: Caught On Cam

Unidentified miscreants opened fire at a restaurant in Bihar's Muzaffarpur. The incident was caught on camera.

Unidentified miscreants opened fire at a restaurant in Bihar's Muzaffarpur. The video of the incident was shared by news agency ANI. Another shootout was reported in the state's Begusarai district where a retired teacher was shot dead, but more details are awaited in both matters.

Arvind Pratap Singh, SP City, said, "At least 10 rounds of firing happened here...prima facie it appears to be a firing to scare people...this was not a firing targeting anybody...we have got information on 4 people who're involved, efforts to arrest the all the accused underway."

Earlier on Friday, a journalist working with Hindi daily Dainik Jagran, indentified as Vimal Kumar Yadav, was shot dead in the Raniganj market area.

Calling it "a heart-breaking incident", Amarendra Kumar, President of Araria District Journalist Association, said, "This raises questions on law and order situation in the state."

A day later on Saturday, four people were arrested in connection with Yadav's murder.

Police told news agency PTI that the accused knocked at his house around 5.30 am, and fired at him as soon as he opened the gates.

Those arrested were identified as Vipin Yadav, Bhavesh Yadav, Ashish Yadav and Umesh Yadav -- all residents of the district, police said. The 35-year-old journalist was a witness to the murder of his brother in 2019, they said.

Police said they have filed a case against eight people on the basis of the statement given by the victim's father Harendra Prasad Singh, following which four accused have been arrested.

Two accused, Rupesh Yadav and Kranti Yadav, are already in judicial custody in connection with some other case, PTI reported. Police said they were the accused on remand for their custodial interrogation in connection with the murder case. Meanwhile, a search is on for the other two accused still at large.
