Bengal CM Mamata Tears Into BJP Over Molestation Charges Against Guv Bose, Says 'My Heart Bleeds For...'

Mamata Banerjee slammed state governor Bose, saying that he has misbehaved with a woman, so he has no right to talk about women in the state.

West Bengal News: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party over the molestation charges against state Governor CV Ananda Bose, saying that before talking about Sandeshkhali, the BJP must answer why the Governor did this to a woman working at Raj Bhavan: Mamata Banerjee.

The BJP and TMC have been at loggerheads with each other over the allegations of land grabbing and atrocities against women in Sandeshkhali.

This comes a day after several leaders from the TMC came forward with claims that a woman employed at the Raj Bhavan has alleged sexual harassment by CV Ananda Bose. Attacking the governor, the TMC chief said that he misbehaved with a woman, so he has no right to talk about women in the state.

While speaking at a rally, Banerjee also said, "My heart bleeds for the woman molested at Raj Bhavan, it's a shame".

During an election rally in Purba Bardhaman, Banerjee expressed astonishment at the governor's behaviour towards the woman who had gone to Raj Bhavan looking for a job. "Yesterday, a young woman who worked at Raj Bhavan came out and spoke against the governor's harassment...the tears of the woman broke my heart. I have seen her video testimony," she said, as quoted by news agency PTI.

The TMC chief also questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who visited Raj Bhavan last night, asking why he remained silent on the issue.

"The woman cried and walked out saying she was too scared to work at Raj Bhavan anymore. She said that she was called at odd hours and was subjected to harassment. And these are the people who talk about the dignity of our mothers and sisters?" the West Bengal CM said, as quoted by PTI. On Thursday, Bose had said he will not be cowed down by "engineered narratives" and the "truth shall triumph", hours after TMC leaders claimed that the woman had lodged a police complaint against the governor for molestation.
