Lakhimpur Kheri Violence: Questioning Continues For Main Accused Ashish Mishra

Crime Branch team is interrogating Ashish Mishra, the main accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. Ashish Mishra had arrived at the Crime Branch office this morning before his reporting time.

Lakhimpur Violence: The main accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case Ashish Mishra is being questioned by the Crime Branch team. The Crime Branch team has a long list of questions for Ashish Mishra. The Crime Branch has prepared 32 questions. Ashish Mishra was scheduled to appear at 11 am but reached the Crime Branch office 20 minutes late.

Earlier there were reports of Ashish Mishra absconding. However, this morning his lawyer said that Ashish Mishra will appear before the police on time. Ashish's lawyer had also confirmed that Ashish alias Monu is in Lakhimpur. Ashish Mishra is the son of Union minister of state for home affairs Ajay Mishra.

Earlier, Ajay Mishra declared his son 'innocent' and on Friday he said that his son was 'unwell' and would appear before the police today. Mishra told media at Lucknow airport, "We trust the law. My son is innocent. He got a notice on Thursday but he said he was not feeling well. He will appear before the police on Saturday and will give his statement and provide evidence for his innocence." He was questioned if the opposition was demanding his resignation, he said, "The opposition can demand anything."

Earlier CM Yogi had said on Friday that no one is allowed to take the law into his hands but no action will be taken under pressure without evidence. Yogi said, "The Lakhimpur Kheri incident is tragic and unfortunate. The government is investigating every cause of this incident. There is no place for violence in democracy and when the law is giving guarantee to secure everyone, there is no need to take it into one’s hands, whosoever they are."
