Jamia Millia Islamia will adopt the Common University Entrance Test (CUT) for admission of students to undergraduate courses from the academic session 2022-23.

New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia has decided to adopt the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) to admit students to undergraduate courses from the academic session 2022-23. Now out of 59 undergraduate courses in Jamia, students will be admitted through CUET in eight. The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the top officials of the university on Monday.

Jamia has also informed the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the National Testing Agency (NTA). In the course offered by CUET, students can take admissions in BA History, Economics, Hindi, Sanskrit, French and Francophone Studies, Spanish and Latin American Studies, BSc Biotechnology and BVOC Solar Energy.

Jamia announced on Monday that the 59 courses include engineering and dental (BDS) courses. Admission for these will be done through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET). For the remaining courses, Jamia will have its own admission process. Being a minority institution, Jamia has its own admission process. However, the University Grants Commission recently clarified that all central universities, including minority institutions, should adopt CUET from this year.
