New Delhi: Gujarat will witness rainfall in the coming days as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of coastal Saurashtra and south Gujarat regions from July 6. Earlier, on Tuesday, the IMD said that a cyclonic circulation lay over the south Gujarat region and the neighbourhood extending up to 3.1 km above.

Director of IMD Ahmedabad MeT Centre, Manorama Mohanty said, "For the next five days in the entire Gujarat, there are chances of rainfall in most places. The entire state will receive rainfall, but there can be heavy to very heavy rainfall in some places."

Mohanty added, "For the next five days, there are chances of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the Gujarat region and Saurashtra Kutch region...Mostly, all the districts will receive rain...There are chances of Ahmedabad receiving heavy rainfall in the next 5 days...."

A report by PTI said that senior government officials had met the State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC) in Gandhinagar to review the preparedness after the warning for heavy rainfall in the state.

Officials of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have said that a deployment plan has been prepared and all teams were on alert.

Meanwhile, Mumbai was lashed with moderate to heavy rain overnight on Wednesday, and the weather department had issued an 'orange' alert, predicting more heavy showers in the city on Thursday.

As per PTI, Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) said some of the bus routes were diverted due to waterlogging. The routes were restored at around 8 am and the bus services were running normally in the city.
