5 Gujarat Boys Drown In Batod Lake While Trying Save Each Another
Gujarat News: The five boys drown in Batod's Krishna Sagar Lake while trying to save each other. Their bodies were recovered after a 45-minute rescue operation.
In a bid to save one another, five teenage boys drowned in Krishna Sagar Lake in Botad town of Gujarat on Saturday. Police officials said that two boys were swimming in the Krishna Sagar Lake in the afternoon when they started drowning. The other three boys present at the spot jumped in to save the boys in the lake, however, all the boys drowned. The police received information about the incident at around 4:30 pm.
"5 boys died by drowning in Krishna Sagar Lake outside Botad town today. Two children were swimming in the afternoon when they started drowning," said Batod SP Kishor Balolia, as quoted by news agency ANI.
"Three others present at the spot jumped into the water to save them but they also drowned," he said.
According to PTI, a rescue team was rushed to the spot, and five bodies were fished out after a 45-minute rescue operation, said Fire Brigade officer Kuldeepsinh Dodiya.
In a similar incident, a 15-year-old boy drowned in the sea at IT Sez beach in Visakhapatnam on Saturday, said police. The deceased was identified as Ramapatruni Charan, Tailors Colony in Madhurawada, said police.
The boy went to IT Sez beach for swimming along with five other students. Locals and friends tried to save him. But due to the high current, they were not able to reach him.
The body was brought to shore, said police.
In another incident, a 20-year-old man was drowned in the Beas in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district when he accidentally slipped into the river during a post-death ritual, police said on Saturday.
Gurmeet Singh, a resident of Paral village in Indora, drowned at Rayali Manjheer panchayat in Nurpur on Friday afternoon, they said. Singh had come to his relative's house for 'rasam uthala', a post-death ceremony, when he accidentally slipped into the river and drowned, Panchayat Pradhan Ramesh Kumar said.
The body was recovered by locals after hours of efforts, he added. A case has been registered and investigations are underway. The body has been sent for post-mortem, police said.
