French Actress Marianne Borgo Alleges Being Held Hostage In Goa, Cops Refute Claim

French actress Mariane Borgo has claimed to have been held hostage for around a week over a property dispute. The matter is now pending before a court.

French actress Marianne Borgo on Sunday alleged she was held hostage in a house in Goa earlier this week. The issue with regard to which the incident happened is of a property in Calangute village where two parties, claimed to be the owner of the same property. The police, however, dismissed the claim.

North Goa SP Nidhin Valsan said that one of the parties is Borgo and the other is a resident of Nepal, reported news agency ANI.

The French woman had submitted an application to the high court, according to the police. However, the court denied her request and advised her to go to a civil court instead. The official added, "The matter is pending in the civil court and Monday (January 30) is the next date of hearing. It is a sub judice matter."

Police, on Borgo's allegation of being held hostage, said, "Our team visited the property. Our officers are in regular touch with the woman. It was found that both parties are claiming to be the owners of the disputed house. The French woman and her maid are staying inside a room in the house. The house is not locked from the outside. When the police officers knocked on the door, the French woman as well as her maid opened the door. And she has kept two private security persons."

The SP while dismissing the allegations of anyone being held hostage said, "The other party which is from Nepal has also kept some security. But the people are moving without any restraint. Allegations of being kept captive or hostage cannot be substantiated."

According to the police, certain documents were discovered in which the French woman claimed to have given money to another person for the purpose of purchasing the disputed home. The other party claimed to be the wife of the original owner, who has now passed away. The court will make a decision in this matter.
