Portion Of Temporary Bridge In Bihar's Vaishali Washed Away Due To Strong Winds

A portion of a temporary bridge over the river Ganga in Bihar's Vaishali was washed away due to strong winds.

In the third such incident in a month, a portion of a temporary bridge built on river Ganga in Bihar's Vaishali washed away due to strong winds, reported ANI. The bridge connected Raghopur to the Vaishali District Headquarters in the state. In the video posted by the agency, several people can be seen standing on the broken bridge. The incident comes days after two bridge-related mishaps were witnessed in Bihar.

Earlier last week, a pillar of an under-construction bridge on Mechi River which connects Katihar and Kishanganj districts in Bihar, caved in near Gori village on NH-327E. A local resident said that this is the mistake of the constructor and the engineer. "This is the mistake of the constructor and the engineer, they have not done their work properly. Action should be taken against them," he said, as quoted by the news agency ANI.

Before that, an under-construction Aguwani-Sultanganj bridge in Bihar’s Bhagalpur collapsed. The visuals were caught on camera by the locals. However, no casualty has been reported so far. According to the report, this is the second time the bridge has collapsed.

"The incident of under-construction bridge collapse happened at around 6 pm. No casualties reported till now. Local administration on the spot, we have asked for a report from 'Pul Nirman Nigam'," ANI quoted DDC Bhagalpur Kumar Anurag as saying. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ordered a probe into the incident and asked officials concerned to find out those responsible.

The body of the security guard who went missing after the collapse of the four-lane Sultanganj-Aguwani Ghat bridge was found in Kauwakol block ten days after the incident, an official said. Workers engaged in the removal of debris from the collapsed bridge found the body from the flood plain of Kauwakol block, the official told news agency PTI. The deceased has been identified as Vibhash Kumar, who was working as a guard for the Haryana-based private firm that was constructing the bridge. Deployed on pillar number 10 of the Sultanganj-Aguwani Ghat bridge, which collapsed on June 4, Vibhash Kumar went missing since then.
