11 Hospitalised After Chlorine Gas Leak In Bhopal Colony

Madhya Pradesh Medical Education Minister Vishvas Kailash Sarang said instructions have been given to review the incident of leakage in the chlorine tank in Mother India Colony.

New Delhi: Chlorine gas leaked from a water filter plant in Bhopal's Mother India Colony on Wednesday evening, causing a stir. People living in the area started having a burning sensation in their eyes and reported difficulty in breathing.

According to inputs, 11 people have been admitted to the hospital due to the impact of the same. Madhya Pradesh Medical Education Minister Vishvas Kailash Sarang said that the condition of the people admitted to the hospital is improving. 

Bhopal Collector Avinash Lavania said that an ambulance reached the spot after the chlorine gas leak. Three patients were taken to Hamidia Hospital by ambulance. 35-year-old Sangeeta, 40-year-old Pushpa, and 65-year-old Parvez are among those taken to Hamidia Hospital. All three are reported to be in better condition.

Madhya Pradesh Medical Education Minister Vishvas Kailash Sarang said in a tweet that there is continuous improvement in the health of those admitted to Hamidia Hospital. The doctors and hospital management are diligently engaged in proper treatment.

"Instructions have been given to review the incident of leakage in chlorine tank in Mother India Colony in Idgah Hills and conduct a detailed investigation. Whoever is found guilty after investigation will not be spared. Effective steps will also be taken to prevent its recurrence," the Minister wrote in another tweet.

More details about the incident are awaited.
