'Shah Rukh Khan Jawan Mein Kehte Hain...': Kejriwal Says AAP Only Party To Seek Votes On Education Pledge

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, accompanied by his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann, were in Amritsar to inaugurate a ‘School of Eminence’.

New Delhi: Borrowing a line from the Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Jawan’, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday took a dig at the Centre claiming that there’s was the only party, which has the moral courage to ask for votes on the promise of better education and healthcare. The Atlee directorial, which has been on phenomenal run at the box office in the country and overseas, has a monologue from the protagonist, Shah Rukh, exhorting people to ask leaders, who come asking for votes, as to what they plan to do for them and their children if elected for the next five years.

Talking to the media, the Delhi Chief Minister said, “In the movie 'Jawan', Shah Rukh Khan said not to give votes on the basis of religion and caste and instead ask the candidates if they can provide good education and medical treatment. Today, there is only one party - AAP - that asks for votes on the promise of providing education to their children.”

Kejriwal, accompanied by his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann, were in Amritsar to inaugurate a ‘School of Eminence’.

“We had promised before the elections that it is my responsibility to educate your children. Construction of 117 schools has already been started, admission process is complete. There are 4200 seats in these schools and one lakh children have filled the applications for admission. Earlier, there were recommendation for private schools but under the AAP government, there are recommendations for admission in government schools,” Kejriwal said.

Speaking to the media, Punjab CM Mann said, “Our dream of providing education is for the whole country. We are already delivering on this goal in Delhi and Punjab. Arvind Kejriwal recently coined ‘One Nation, One Education’, in which children of the rich and the poor will study in the same school and receive the same education.”

According to a statement issued by AAP, this will be the first 'School of Eminence' in Punjab and it will play a major role in providing quality education to the children of the state. “The 'School of Eminence' has smart classrooms, modern infrastructure and labs, and playgrounds having facilities for various sports,” the AAP statement further said.
